Biography.

An award-winning nature photographer and journalist, Murray Kaufman specializes in adventure travel, rain forest, underwater, and indigenous peoples photography. He has received numerous awards and multiple grand prizes, in many national and international photo competitions including high commendation in the prestigious BBG/Plc Wildlife Photographer of the Year Competiton. His articles and photos have been published in many magazines and journals, including Skin Diver, Scuba Times, Discover Diving, Sport Diver, Dive Travel, Ocean Realm, Islands, Outside, and Nature’s Best. He is the author and photographer of four nationally syndicated calendars, Colors of the Sea, Wildlife 2000, Reefs and Rain Forests 2001, and Reefs and Rain Forests 2002. His first book, Reefs and Rain Forests, the Natural Heritage of Malaysian Borneo has just been released. He is the past president of the Los Angeles Chapter of the Underwater Photographic Society and he is an active member of NANPA and ASMP.

Murray is a native of Los Angeles, California. His formal education includes completion of Bachelor of Sciences in Biology, D.D.S., and M.D. degrees. Between trips to exotic destinations, Murray maintains an active surgery practice in Los Angeles, California, where he lives with his wife, art historian Lea Eckerling Kaufman, and their two children, Aaron and Jenny.
